Jake's Hospital Stay Documented In Photos

All of these were taken with my cell phone. I left the camera in Jaileighs back pack from when we were at the doctor appointment getting flu shots.

This was Annie on my birthday dinner date. She was so excited to be with Mike and I. You can tell from the look on her face she knows that she got away with something.

These pictures were taken November 5 at RADY children's hospital in San Diego.
Jake was happy to have Annie there, I think. It would have been so boring with just mom.

Nurse Amanda gave him this green spider ring.

He quickly learned how to control the bed. He is holding his leads in his right hand. He wouldn't let me take them off. I guess he thought they were cool.

As soon as he woke up he made me put on his tennis shoes because he wanted to go home. Then he found that there was a lot of buttons to push and things to get in to and he was okay staying there.

Annie found where the telephone was stored. She was quite angry when I moved it.

Then he discovered the white board. He figured out how to raise the bed up really high so that he could reach the marker and the white board.

He's showing Annie how to draw.

Now he's helping her draw.

He loved this marker. I think it would have ended up at our house if I hadn't have snuck it out of his pocket before we left.

There was a courtyard connected to our room so the nurse "encouraged" us to explore out there while she completed out discharge papers. Jake collected snails and put them in a big pile.

Even Annie helped. Here she is holding a snail too.

Annie didn't have any shoes, pajama bottoms, or a regular shirt. She wore Jake's hospital socks outside for awhile and pretty much ruined them. Then I let her play in her bare feet for awhile. She didn't care! Glad she isn't high maintenance like the other princess in our house.

I'm the BOSS!

Nurse Naomi brought orange ice cream!

Jake saved this little tiny container of granola from his breakfast and put it on his ice cream.

He's sharing with Annie. I can still hear his voice saying "Here you go baby." He calls Annie "baby" when he's being nice.

I'm FREE!!! He was so excited to see his siblings! They called when they got there and we went down and met them outside the hospital.
Jakob, Jaileigh, and Anthony's legs sticking out of the fountain. (Michael fell asleep in the car.)

I put Jake and Annie in the wheelchair to bring them out. They liked this.

As soon as we got home, Mike turned around and drove back to San Diego airport to pick up our friend Heather. She stayed with us Sat and Sunday and flew home Monday morning. It was so fun having her!

About 5 minutes after Mike left the door bell rang. I thought it was Mike, maybe he had forgot something. It was a deliver lady with a yummy gift basket from my family.

The kids thought that was the neatest basket! The dove right in and quickly divided it between them.
Takes after her mommy! I love Symphony candy bars too.

Jaileigh picked the dark chocolate candy bar. Blah!

A Little Date

Michael, Annie and I got to hang out together one evening. Wow! 2 kids is so much easier than 5. I almost didn't know what to do with myself. Mike took the other 3 to football practice. Michael wanted to stay home with Mommy. I had a coupon to Michael's I wanted to use and so we went out on the town. I wanted to get a laminator but they didn't have one so Michael got a new elephant. He was thrilled especially since I just took away all of his other animals because he refused to clean them up. He was going through animal {ELEPHANT} withdrawals. Annie was just happy to be along for the ride.

I do take the little munchkins out for 1 on 1 dates or sometimes 2 on 1. They always LOVE it! They just glow the whole time and TALK the whole time. I feel like they are trying to make up for shared time. Ahhhh, I love these little kiddos!

Sneaking Hershey's Chocolate

Someone was in the chocolate! I'll give you one guess.

Annie and Anthony think it's pretty funny.

Annie thinks it's really funny. Anthony is actually trying to clean her.

Sillly kids.

Who Is Teaching You These Things?

I walked in to the bathroom to find Annie up on the counter and in the medicine cabinet. I already don't keep anything in the cabinet because the quads have already explored this territory. I just don't remember them climbing this high, this early. She's only 14 months.

I got her down and she went right back up. First she climbs on the toilet.

Then she climbs on the back of the toilet.

Onto the counter.

Through the sink and her face says it all. "HA mom. You think you can stop me?"

Jaileigh wanted her picture taken too. You can see Annie climbing up again. Thank goodness she can't open doors yet.

A Story About Annie and Her Rescuers

We stayed at my moms house for awhile in June. While we were there we were all very nervous about the railing in her house. Here is a picture of it. You can see how spread apart each balustrade is from the next. My kids whole bodies can slip through.

The quads know that they aren't supposed to play around the railing but Annie thought it was quite funny. She kept kicking her legs through it and then she would lean her whole body through and just laugh. We all tried to watch her but I guess one time she was too quick. We were all in the playroom playing and Jakob came running up to me. "Mommy, Annie fall, Annie fall Mommy. Come here."   What? I jumped up and followed him thinking that she had just fallen down. Nope. She had fallen through the railing. Jaileigh had caught her and was holding her by her head. Annie was also holding on with her hands. She scared me to death. I cannot believe Jake and Jaileigh were both mature enough to understand and to help.

A Year Later, Another Set Of Stitches

Yep, we now have our 2nd set of stitches. Jakob got the first set last June a little over a year ago.  This time he was again involved. He and Michael were goofing around. Jake pushed Michael and WHAM he fell into the bookshelf. I rushed him to the urgent care, which is a block away.  An hour and a half later, he got 3 stitches. He didn't cry once, he was so brave. The doctor was so impressed. He said that this would be his demeanor his whole life, one tough kid. After the stitches, even though it was bedtime, we went to Target and let him pick out a toy. He chose the Fisher Price zoo because it had an elephant in it.

Michael watching Nemo while we waited.

Annie and Michael playing with balloons.

After stitches. Happy little man. He was so excited to get a new toy and relieved that it was all over.
