BASKETBALL!

Mike signed the boys up for basketball. After swearing that he would never coach them again, he's coaching them again. They seem to love it so far. This was their first practice. Mike was out of town so the assistant coach was helping.

More pictures of the demo. Thank goodness we have the upstairs to hide! The kids and I also spent a lot of time outside.

Goodbye Tile!

Good news: We are getting rid of our tile and carpet downstairs. Bad news: Mike is out of town.

We decided to use our tax refund on new flooring this year. We had talked about it a couple of years ago and finally decided we were ready and were really sick of the tile and carpet.

We didn't have a kitchen for 3-4 days. It was rough! I had to get creative with breakfast and lunch. Dinner was mainly pizza. 

End of the first day. All the tile in the kitchen was out and all the carpet.

'Anthony Got Shanked'

origin: prison slang
shanked: to be stabbed with a homemade knife.

That's right. Anthony got shanked by "sweet" little Jakob. Before school Jakob found a piece of broken tile and shanked Anthony with it. Of course, Mike was out of town, I had workers scheduled to be at my house at 8:00 and the other kids had to be at school by 7:40. I cleaned and butterflied it shut, wrapped it in tape and gauze and thought I could send him to school. The school nurse was at the gate so I asked her what she thought. She told me to take him to urgent care. I told him I would be back to get him after I let the workers in the house. Annie and I ran home, unlocked the front door, called the workers and let them know I was leaving, went to get Anthony, went to one urgent care that the line was down the street, drove to the other urgent care in another town and got him all fixed up and in time to go back to school.  He didn't want to go back so I let him stay with Annie and I for the last hour of school.

The doctor came in and glued it back together. He wrapped it with this athletic wrap and sent us to Target to buy our own. We had to stop at Starbucks to get our cake pops!

Mother Son Super Hero Dance

Last year our school did a Hoe Down this year it was a super hero dance for the mother son dance. The boys were so excited to go.

Snacks were yummy. It was all finger foods; chips, goldfish crackers, mini Oreos, gummies, . . . .

After the dance we went out to dinner. They were starving! We went to the Yellow Basket and I let them have "hot drink" {soda} which they NEVER get. I think they have had it 2 or 3 times plus the times Anthony thinks he's sneaky and tastes someone else's.  Michael chose to have a shake instead of hot drink. Anthony and Jake chose Sierra Mist and neither one liked it but they pretended they did. They didn't drink any of it but insisted on bringing it home to brag to the sisters about getting hot drink. Funny kids!
