Last Day Of School

On the last day of school I was lucky enough to spend the day in the classroom. It was a bittersweet day to know that my kids would never come back to Mrs. Sanchez room but I cannot tell you how excited I am that it is finally summer! I am more excited than my kids. They were sad that they weren't going to see their teacher or their friends everyday.

I made a book through Shutterfly for Mrs. Sanchez. I took all the pictures from the school year and put them together into a little memory book.  They have a new 10x10 size that was perfect. One of these days I am going to purchase a copy of it because it turned out so well.  She loved it and so did all the kids.

SUMMER!!!!

We normally go to school in the afternoon, 10:30-2:04, for the last day we went 7:40-11:15.  After school I took the kids out to lunch to Sonic. They loved the roller skates and roller blades and now they all want a pair for their birthday.  It was so fun to be able to go to lunch with them.

Hanging Out At The Mall

Last day before summer starts Annie and I had a bunch of errands to run. One of them happened to be in the mall. We stopped at the Disney store to look. They have a big movie area and show Princess music videos. There is a coloring table to color princess pictures. Annie and I played here for awhile.

She was a little nervous and shy around all the strangers.

The all has these really neat toys. You pay $5 for 10 minutes of riding time. You can ride them along the whole wing. They hold up to 210 lbs so parents can ride with their younger children.

Last Swim

Annie and I had one last swim party together before school ended and the rest of the kids were home for the summer. We packed a lunch and spent the morning at the pool until it was time to pick up the kids from school.

The STORM Baseball Game!

The kids each earned two tickets to the minor league, Lake Elsinore Storm, baseball games'. By reading so many books and turning the list in you automatically got two free tickets. We used our tickets last Friday night.

Family Service Project

Last weekend Mike and I put together a service project for one of our neighbors. She is an elderly lady that needed help weeding her backyard.  She isn't a member of our church but was wondering if I knew anyone that could come weed it and she would pay them. Mike announced it in church and passed around a sign up sheet. I was expecting 8-12 people show but I think we had over 20.  Most of them were young men ages 14-16. I was so impressed with these young men, to give up their Saturday sleep to pick weeds for someone that they had never met. They showed up at 8 and we were finished by 10:00.  I was also so excited that my kids were introduced to service and that they enjoyed it. I expected them to do more playing than helping but they helped just like everyone else. I was so proud of my little troupers!

Sadly I didn't get any before or during pictures, just after. The area along the fence was full of weeds some taller than the fence, a few trees, a blackberry bush and 100's of bulbs she didn't want us to disturb. Because she had the bulbs planted we had to be very careful weeding.

We filled 3 garbage cans full and then filled 4 black garbage bags full and we still had weeds we had to leave there. We made a pile in the corner so we could go back later to dispose of them.

This planter was full of weeds and St. Augustine grass.

This was our garbage can that we filled with weeds and we filled two more of hers just like it.
